In other words, adding an ISRC code to a WAV file is entirely different than adding it to a CD master, and without the right software and care, there is no guarantee that the ISRC codes will transfer over. The mastering engineer usually creates the CD maser (DDP or CD-R) so if you're not doing it, I wonder who would?Īre they using software that can read the ISRC code in the WAV? Are they using software that will automatically transfer the embedded ISRC in the WAV to the CD-Text field of the CD master? Are they using software that allows them to manually enter the ISRC codes if needed? Doesn't this defeat the purpose of adding the ISRC codes the WAV files then?

Let's say you do them the favor of adding the ISRC codes to the WAV files via the free ISRC app from Sonoris. They also almost always have to be entered manually when setting up digital distribution so your efforts could be for nothing. They rarely translate when converted to another format. They can be embedded into the XML chunk of the metadata (EBU standard), or into the ID3v2 field. ISRC codes can be embedded on a CD-R or DDP master. It's important to be aware of the 3 main ways to embed ISRC codes, and when and why they matter. I have a preset set up in WaveLab so that when ISRC codes are present, they are pushed to all the possible formats I might render. If you are not careful and say you use the Sonoris ISRC app to add the codes, but then burn a CD with iTunes, the codes will not translate to the CD.
